Preston Max Allen (he/him) is a playwright, composer, and lyricist whose work has been featured at the New Amsterdam Theatre, Lincoln Center, Signature Theatre, Musical Theatre Factory, Chautauqua Institution, Feinstein’s/54 Below, Joe's Pub, and more. Preston conceived and wrote book, music, and lyrics for the 2019 Off-Broadway musical WE ARE THE TIGERS (Theatre 80, album streaming, available for licensing through Concord Theatricals); NEVER BETTER (developmental premiere, Theo Ubique); THE RAGE: CARRIE 2, AN UNAUTHORIZED MUSICAL PARODY (Underscore); KRISIS KIDS WILDERNESS ADVENTURE CAMP (Village Theatre KIDSTAGE Commission); and AGENT 355 (dramaturgy/co-book Jessica Kahkoska, Marion Fellowship Award Winner); Additional musical collaborations include  AMY ADAMS WINS AN OSCAR and A VERY NETFL*X CHRISTMAS MUSICAL: NOW STREAMING LIVE! (books by Edward Precht). 

Plays include CAROLINE (MCC Theater; Drama Desk and Drama League nominee for Outstanding Play, Outer Critics Circle John Gassner Award nominee for New American Play); NUCLEAR (Manhattan Theatre Club Sloan Initiative Commission); (MODERN GENTLEMAN (About Face); and STORYTIME (Lucille Lortel 2023-2024 micro commission).  

In TV, Preston sold his play MODERN GENTLEMAN to Freeform and wrote on Peter Tolan’s series BELATED at FX. Preston is a member of the Writers Guild of America East, Ars Nova Play Group (2019-2021), graduate of the Second City/Columbia College Chicago Comedy Studies Program, alum of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop, and 2023 Jonathan Larson Grant Finalist. Above all, he is the proud father to his cat Hero -->
